Finance Manager

PACE is a voluntary organisation, funded by the Probation Service that has worked with prisoners, ex-prisoners and ex-offenders for over 50 years. PACE provides a wide range of services to support the safe integration of this client group into the community.
PACE provides a range of accommodation services for men, and training and education programmes for men and women, who have a history of offending behaviour.
PACE works from a strengths-based approach to address the treatment and support needs of the target group to support them to develop a pro-social identity based around their non-offending behaviour.
Purpose : To lead the finance function of PACE & PACE Housing Association.
Duties and responsibilities
Advise the CEO and the Board of Management on all financial matters
Develop, manage, and monitor annual budgets in collaboration with the CEO and the management team.
Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and variance analysis.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end closing processes, including preparation of P&L statements and review of balance sheet reconciliations.
Ensure cash flow is monitored and managed effectively to support operational needs.
Prepare accurate financial forecasts to inform strategic decision-making.
Review and update financial policy & procedures
Compliance & Governance
Ensure full compliance with Irish charity law, Revenue requirements, and funder reporting obligations.
Liaise with external auditors, preparing year-end accounts and supporting audit processes.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant financial legislation and best practices for charities and non-profits.
Recommend internal control improvements and implement recommendations provided by the auditors in the annual management letter
Reporting
Provide clear, accurate financial reports to the Board, highlighting risks, trends, and opportunities.
Prepare funder reports in accordance with grant agreements and service contracts.
Controls & Processes
Maintain strong internal financial controls, including expense authorisation, payroll oversight and procurement procedures.
Manage banking relationships
Ensure robust record-keeping systems for financial documentation.
Leadership & Collaboration
Support the CEO in ensuring financial sustainability through sound planning and resource allocation.
Work collaboratively with service managers to ensure cost-effective service delivery.
Contribute to funding applications and tenders with accurate costings and financial analysis.
Managing, mentoring and developing the internal finance personnel.
Experience/Criteria
Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) or equivalent experience in charity/non-profit finance. Part qualified candidates (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) with significant experience will be considered
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a financial management role.
Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook and Data entry/processing.
Strong understanding of charity finance, including restricted funding and funder compliance will be an advantage
Experience is using accounting software.Experience in using Bright books and Dext will be an advantage.
Exceptional attention to detail, analytical ability, and organisational skills.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to multitask, manage deadlines, and work independently and as part of a team.
