Floating Support Case Worker
12 month contract with a view to permanency
35 Hours per week - working across a 7-day rota
Salary: €37,109.46 per annum
Location: Moorehaven, Teach Rua, Ceim Aistir and Cherry House services, Dublin
ROLE
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to be a member of a multi-disciplined team using holistic approaches to support Depaul service users. Working within the principle of harm minimisation where residents receive a high degree of care, support and dignity, Depaul has a commitment to service user participation and to empowering residents to manage their own lives. This role works across a 7-day week rota covering both day and night shifts. The role commences with increased annual leave days and other added benefits.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The core pillars of work for this service are:
- Supporting residents - To maintain positive Mental Health
- Support individuals in accessing social opportunities that contribute to their rehabilitation and community inclusion.
- Transition - Supporting individuals in their transition from Supported residential living to long term community living.
- Visiting support to service users living independently in the community
- Life Skills – Assessment and Practical Support - Building on existing life skills interventions to empower individuals in a more independent setting.
- Aiding client recovery and rehabilitation via community engagement and independent living skills.
- Monitoring of support requirements of service users to sustain their accommodation i.e. rent payments etc. and work with the service users, utilising motivational and recovery orientated techniques to ensure sustainment of accommodation.
- To work directly with service users to ensure access to relevant wraparound services needed for the service user’s progression.
- Assessment of new service users, service user induction and goal setting in line with their personal recovery goals.
- Advocate for and empower service users to facilitate access to support services
- Ensuring service user files are kept up to date with accurate, relevant information
- Interagency work- building relationships and reporting to the same.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with local policies and procedures
- Adherence to Organisational Health & Safety Policies- Ensure excellent health and safety standards are maintained with particular consideration to lone working best practice
- Flexibility to cover for project staff in emergency situations.
- Strive to work creatively and take initiative to assist the floating support service in achieving its core objectives and ensuring that the needs of service users are met.
The above list is not exhaustive; additional areas of responsibility may be added over time and flexibility to cover for other staff roles is required from time to time.
PERSON REQUIREMENTS
- 2 year’s paid experience working with service users with enduring mental health problems, learning disabilities and/ or offending histories.
- Social studies/ case management accredited qualification
- Experience in keyworking/ support planning
- Experience of working in a Mental Health Service – desirable
- Experience of Life Skills work promoting residents to achieve independence is desirable for this role.
- Experience of lone working or off-site working an advantage
- An understanding of enduring mental health issues and the impact it has on the individual.
- Good working knowledge of risk assessment processes and systems (i.e. S/U Risk assessment, Lone Working, Activity Risk Assessments)
- Be able to work as part of a team understanding the importance of team communication
- Have an understanding of Health and Safety and requirements of the same
- Have a knowledge and understanding of the vision, mission and values of Depaul
- Candidate should have experience and knowledge of interagency work collaborating with various agencies

Annual Leave Up to 3 years' service: 25 days per year
3 years' up to 5 years' service: 27 days per year
Over 5 years' service: 30 working days per year (Exclusive of bank and statutory holidays)
10 public holidays each year with Good Friday as discretionary day. Day off and day pay for Christmas Day, St.Stephen's Day, and New Year's Day worked for shift workers.
Non-Shift Workers: Paid day off on public holidays.
Shift Workers: Expected to work on public holidays; receive an additional day of annual leave in lieu.
Non-Rostered Employees: May be entitled to one-fifth of the normal weekly rate of remuneration for the public holiday.
