What’s the role and service?
In your role as a Project Worker, you will develop and implement trauma informed programmes that respond to the needs of children and families referred to the service working in partnership with families and other community voluntary and statutory bodies.
What will my day to day look like?
- Work with children/young people/carers/families in a variety of ways, including group work, individual work and Family Work, centre based and Outreach work.
- Liaise effectively with families and other statutory, community and voluntary bodies and to attend and contribute to reviews and case conferences as required.
- Work in partnership with other Barnardos services to best meet the needs of children and families by collaborating resources with planned interventions targeting groups/families of shared need.
- Assess the needs of children and families referred to the service and to devise and deliver intervention support plans for children and their parents based on this assessment.
- Deliver trauma informed evidence-based interventions for children and parents at individual and /or group level including individual therapeutic support for children, parent-child relationship support and parenting interventions.
- Deliver trauma informed and evidence-based support and interventions for children, parents and foster carers referred for support through the Tusla Dublin South Central Social Work Department
- Deliver trauma informed and evidence-based support and interventions to children and families impacted by addiction and work closely with other addiction support services to support parents in addiction and their children
- Develop integrated service responses in partnership with other agencies working within the catchment area of the service to meet the needs of the children and their parents referred to the service.
What experience do I need?
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience, comprising:
- 1 year post-qualification experience, and
- 1 year prior qualification experience working with vulnerable children and families or working with adults in a therapeutic setting dependant on the service
- Experience of working in partnership with families and carers.
- Experience of planning, implementing and reviewing programmes with children and/or families.
- Experience of working therapeutically with children both individually and in groups desirable.
- Experience of direct work with parents around their children’s needs and of the delivery of parenting programmes will be an advantage.
- Experience of establishing contacts and developing relationships with other agencies so as to best meet the needs of the child and family is desirable.
Do I need a qualification?
A recognised third level practice qualification (minimum Level 7 on QQI) in one of the following:
Early Childhood Care and Education / Social Care / Education / Social Work / Youth Work or related discipline (Nursing, Psychology, Early Years Education).
Applicants with a Social Care or Social Work qualification must be registered with CORU as a Social Care Worker or Social Worker respectively.
Those eligible for CORU registration who are currently in the process of registration through their qualification, or under CORU’s transitional arrangements (grandparenting route), will be required to provide evidence that this in process.
Full driving licence and access to the use of a suitably insured vehicle is essential.
The Barnardos Rialto Family Centre service supports families living in the extended Dublin Area and at times surrounding counties including Kildare and Wicklow.
The post-holder will initially be assigned to work for Barnardos Rialto Family Centre ser Dublin South Central but may be required in the future to work in other project(s) in the Dublin area in line with organisational needs.
