Be there when someone needs help most
Homelessness doesn't end when the working day finishes. For someone sleeping rough, facing an immediate housing crisis or struggling to access essential services, having somebody to turn to in the evening can make an enormous difference.
Midlands Simon Community is looking for a Case Worker to join its out of hours outreach service, providing practical assistance, guidance and advocacy to people experiencing homelessness or at immediate risk of losing their homes across the Midlands.
The role
You'll respond to people who need assistance outside normal office hours, delivering support grounded in trauma-informed care and harm reduction. Your responsibilities will include:
● Engaging with people sleeping rough, experiencing homelessness or facing an immediate housing crisis, assessing their needs and providing practical support.
● Offering information, guidance and advocacy to help people access housing, healthcare, welfare, addiction services and other essential supports.
● Building working relationships with local authority housing teams and other agencies so people receive coordinated assistance.
● Keeping accurate case records, updating the national homeless services database (PASS) and contributing to reports, statistics and handovers.
● Responding to incidents and emergencies in line with safeguarding, health and safety and other organisational procedures.
● Working closely with colleagues, taking part in team meetings and supervision, and helping maintain a safe, person-centred service.
