About ACJRD
ACJRD is a national network of organisations and individuals working across the Irish criminal justice system. We support effective, evidence informed policy and practice by bringing together practitioners, advocates, researchers and experts by experience to share knowledge and learning.
The role
ACJRD is recruiting an Events and Communications Officer to play a central role in developing our network and strengthening how we engage with members, stakeholders, practitioners, the media and the wider public. The role combines event management, communications and member development in a small, mission driven team.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver a calendar of conferences, seminars, webinars, working groups and other learning events.
- Manage event logistics, including venues, suppliers, budgets, and communications with speakers and participants.
- Support online and hybrid events and produce post event materials such as conference reports.
- Develop and deliver clear, engaging content for the website, newsletters, reports and social media.
- Maintain and update ACJRD’s website, membership database and digital channels.
- Act as a first point of contact for members and other stakeholders and support general office administration.
- Contribute to organisational strategy, impact reporting and partnership development.
About you
We are looking for someone who brings both professional skills and a genuine interest in criminal justice and social policy. You will have:
- 2 to 3 years’ experience in communications, marketing or event management, ideally in a non profit setting.
- Proven experience planning and delivering professional events, in person and online.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to present complex or sensitive topics in clear, accessible language.
- Experience managing content and engagement across digital platforms and social media.
- Confident use of tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud, WordPress or similar CMS, CRM systems, email newsletter platforms and analytics tools.
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both collaboratively and on your own initiative.
Experience in or alongside the criminal justice, community or social policy sectors, familiarity with research and policy processes, and experience producing multimedia or video content would be an advantage.
Terms and benefits
The role offers 22 days’ annual leave plus office closure over Christmas, a pension scheme with employer contribution after probation, and access to Bike to Work, TaxSaver commuter tickets and an Employee Assistance Programme.
