Job Title: Out of Hours Case Worker
Reporting to: Head of Services
Location: Covering the four Midlands Counties of Longford, Laois, Offaly & Westmeath
Hours: Average of 39 hours per week Monday to Sunday on a rotating roster between the hours of 2pm, 3pm, 4pm or 6pm to 12 midnight and working two weekends per month.
Contract: Permanent
Overall purpose of the job
• To respond appropriately to the needs of individuals sleeping rough, at risk of imminent homelessness, advocating for or who need support outside of normal business hours in an outreach capacity.
• To conduct interventions with individuals experiencing homelessness by providing them with basic supports, information and advice.
• Work from a Trauma Informed and Harm Reduction Model of Care.
Duties
The Out of Hours Case Worker will:
• Ensure that the operation of the service is run smoothly and in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
• Assess Service Users needs and respond appropriately to these needs.
• Participate in the use of the PASS System and update the system on a nightly basis.
• Complete a Monthly Handover Report and Monthly Statistics Report for the Head of Services.
• Liaise closely with the housing sustainment officers within each council housing department.
• Attend regular Homeless Action Team Meeting if required by the Head of Services.
• Facilitate Service Users to access local services such as medical, welfare, addiction services and advocate on their behalf where appropriate.
• Work with all Service Users in a sensitive manner within the framework of the organisation’s policies.
• In conjunction with the Head of Services, maintain positive and mutually beneficial relationships with relevant external agencies.
• Carry out day to day administrative duties in accordance with organisational policies, and under the direction of the Head of Services.
• Undertake additional administrative tasks when required to benefit the organisation e.g. amendments / updates / reviews of current documentation.
• Be vigilant to manage costs and maintain expenditure within the budget.
• Be involved with the preparation of reports, statistics, rosters and other information that may be required by the Head of Services.
• Work effectively as a member of the team.
• Attend internal/external meetings and training as required by the Head of Services.
• Attend and participate in regular supervision and appraisal meetings as required.
• Share responsibility for supervising and supporting volunteers/undergraduate social care students when directed by the Head of Services.
• Ensure that Service Users are consulted and involved in the operation of the service to the greatest extent that is compatible with Service Users wishes, bearing in mind the nature of the service.

• Communicate effectively with all staff by ensuring that all incidents, events, and emergencies are recorded and reported to the Head of Services.
• To liaise with other Midlands Simon Community staff as needed, and to work in a proactive and constructive way with Midlands Simon Community staff in other services.
• Project a positive image of Midlands Simon Community.
• Within reason, to support areas of work such as fundraising, social policy and campaigning.
• Always act in the best interests of the organisation.
• Play a lead role in collating data.
• Responsibility for stock levels and collection of same and making the Head of Services aware when orders need to be placed.
• Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role and as directed by the Head of Services.
