The Bere Island Projects Group CLG Community Development Project
Wish to invite applications for the position of Community Development Worker
Full time (35 hours per week)
This person will work as part of a team implementing the workplan actions for Bere, Whiddy & Dursey Islands as prioritised by The Bere Island Projects Group CLG management team.
The person appointed will be expected to have:
- A minimum of three years experience in Community Development
- Relevant 3rd level qualification (desired but not essential)
- Excellent knowledge of islands and island issues
- Knowledge of the underlying principles and issues relating to poverty and disadvantage
- Understanding of community development and social inclusion issues • Knowledge of inter agency work
- Experience of facilitating groups in a community setting, organising community events including working with children and the youth
- Experience of business planning, applying for funding and networking with voluntary & statutory agencies
- Knowledge of community health work
- Excellent skills in facilitation, report-writing interpersonal, communication, organisational and IT skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and on her/his own initiative
- Full clean driving licence with access to own transport is essential
