Fundraising Coordinator
The Charity
Friends of the Elderly Ireland is an Irish volunteer-based charity established in 1980 to bring one-to-one friendship and social engagement to older people living alone or suffering from social isolation. Since opening our doors, we have been working to improve the lives of our older members by offering emotional and social support. With a small staff and a dedicated crew of volunteers, we reach out in various ways to as many isolated individuals as possible.
We combat loneliness through one-to-one friendship. In 2025, we supported 1,300 older members with over 30,000 Friendly Calls, 7,200 Home Visits, 9,000 social event attendances and 6,100 Hampers delivered. Our TASC research shows that 1 in 4 Irish Adults face chronic loneliness – we exist to change that.
Fundraising is central to sustaining and growing these services, ensuring older people remain connected, supported and valued within their communities.
