Children in Hospital Ireland is seeking a highly competent, compassionate individual to join our team for a part-time Family Support Service Information Officer role to support the Family Support Service Manager in providing information to families with a child who requires hospital care. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and computer literacy and will have a general understanding of the hospital or health sector in Ireland, particularly relating to children and families

Key roles:

1. With the Family Support Service Manager, to identify the information needs of families and gather relevant information for inclusion on the CIH Parent/Carer InformationHub.

2. To support the promotion and dissemination of CIH information supports to healthcare professionals, parents and families.

3. To maintain and regularly update the InformationHub website.

4. To monitor and report on the level of family enquiries and website traffic.

ROLE

The Family Support Service Information Officer will be responsible for updating the CIH InformationHub and disseminating information to families with a child needing hospital care. This includes but is not limited to the following key activities:

• Conducting research and contacting hospitals, statutory providers and charities to ensure that the information on the CIH InformationHub is up to date.

• Supporting the Family Support Service Manager in processing enquiries and finding the relevant information for parents and carers.

• Managing website maintenance and regularly uploading content and resources to the InformationHub website.

• Conducting website analysis, reporting on a regular basis, and providing recommendations for future improvements.

• Supporting the promotion and administration of approximately 4-6 webinars or training events for parents on topics of relevance.

• Providing administrative support in maintaining the CIH Family Advisory Network database.

• Providing regular updates on CIH Information resources to the CIH stakeholder groups.

• Ensuring adherence to data protection/GDPR requirements at all times, in line with CIH policies and procedures.

• Supporting the wider CIH team as required, including volunteer recruitment campaigns and advocacy and education work.

• Promoting the profile and work of Children in Hospital Ireland generally and in particular the family support services.

• Complying with all CIH and relevant hospital policies, procedures and guidelines.

• Performing other duties as may be required from time to time. Reporting to the Family Support Service Manager, the post holder will develop and maintain positive professional relationships particularly with colleagues, the Board, volunteers and representatives of the hospitals and other outside agencies.

REQUIREMENTS

Professional

• Relevant qualification in administration, website maintenance or research

• Minimum two years experience of working in a relevant field such as information provision, project support, research and website content development

• Confidence in and knowledge of (or willingness to learn) the hospital/health care/community care environment, systems and supports- this may include personal or professional experience.

• Computer literacy is essential (Microsoft Office suite). Experience with Wordpress, Mailchimp, Zoom or similar meeting or events platforms is desirable.

• Excellent administrative, communication, written skills and interpersonal skills with excellent attention to detail.

• Proven time management skills and ability to prioritise, work to deadlines and manage a busy workload.

• Experience of connecting with diverse stakeholders.

• Experience of working with confidentiality and maintaining professional boundaries in sensitive working environments.

• Candidates must have a valid work permit for permission to work in Ireland. Personal

• Full valid driver’s license and own car highly desirable.

• Commitment to the highest ethical standards. • A demonstrated empathetic and compassionate approach.

• Self-starter with an ability to work on own initiative.

• Flexibility to occasionally work outside of normal working hours required.

• Team player This position is subject to Garda Vetting. Police clearance is also required from any country where the candidate has spent more than 6 consecutive months since the age of 16 years.

CONDITIONS

A six-month probationary period will apply.

Salary: €18,300 per annum, based on a 22.5 hour week. Payable monthly in arrears

Hours: How the hours are worked is negotiable within the five-day working week. Flexibility is required for occasional evening or weekend work. A time in lieu system operates.

Annual Leave: 22 days pro rata.

In addition, CIH provides a flexible work environment, bike-to-work scheme and a number of additional company-given leave days. Travel: This role is based in Sandyford with a possibility for some remote working. It will also involve occasional travel outside of Dublin.
