Project Co-Ordinator
Full-time (35 hours per week)
The Bere Island Projects Group CLG is an island Community Development Project based on Bere Island, Co Cork working in the area of community and island development across Bere, Whiddy & Dursey Islands. The successful applicant will work as part of a team implementing the workplan actions for these islands as prioritised by the Board of Directors of The Bere Island Projects Group CLG. The project is funded by the Department of Rural & Community Development through Comhar na nOileán Teo and the position being advertised is subject to continued funding.
The person appointed will be expected to have:
- A minimum of three years paid experience in Community Development work or five years voluntary experience is desirable
- Relevant third-level qualification in Community Development is desired but not essential
- Knowledge of islands and island issues is essential with a willingness to generate new and creative ideas for island development
- An understanding of community development and social inclusion issues
- The ability to network effectively at local and national level and work at an Interagency level with community and statutory agencies
- A proven ability of planning and delivering projects, programmes, activities and services at community level and in conjunction with other community groups on the islands
- Experience of applying for funding, supervising staff, managing finances and budgets, working in a charity and implementing the Code of Governance
- Excellent organisational, planning and computer skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly around facilitation and report writing
- Own transport is essential with a full clean driver’s licence
- Flexibility to travel to regular meetings on the mainland and attend meetings on the island at evenings and/or weekends.
