N.B. This position must be filled on a 1.0WTE (35 hours per week) full time basis.
Depending on the outcome of the interviews, it could be possible for 2 people working 0.5WTE (17.5 hours) to fill the position or for 1 person working 1.0WTE (35 hours). Please confirm your preferred working hours in the application form when you apply.
The Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist will work in conjunction with the Occupational Therapist Manager in ensuring the coordination, development and delivery of a quality, client-centred Occupational Therapy Service to meet the needs of the service user group and the objectives of the organisation.
The Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the provision of a high standard Occupational Therapy service in the older persons service or as required in a designated area * and will carry out clinical and educational duties as assigned by the Occupational Therapist Manager. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Essential criteria:
- Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. (https://www.coru.ie/)
- Have five years full time (or equivalent) years post qualification clinical experience of which four years full time (or equivalent) must be consecutive in the required area of specialism.
- Demonstrate a proven record of clinical experience.
- Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the required area of specialism, in the form of post-graduate qualifications or relevant courses.
- Candidates must demonstrate achievement in the areas of clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, practice development, teaching and research.
- Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability, management, leadership and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
- Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
