Purpose:
Charity trustees are the people who ultimately exercise control over, and are legally responsible for, the charity. The Chairperson is responsible for all compliance and governance associated with Peata to ensure the effective, compliant, transparent and successful running of the charity. The chairperson is the public face of the charity.
Key Tasks:
- Lead the organisation to ensure the successful delivery of our principal activity as a registered charity
- Chair and ensure the smooth running of the monthly Board meetings. Draft the agenda, review previous minutes and other relevant documentation for Hon Secretary to distribute for discussion by Board members at meeting
- Liaise with Treasurer and Hon Secretary to ensure all income and expenditure is managed in line with good governance and compliance practice and regulations
- Promoting good governance among fellow charity trustees
- Respond as required to official in-coming correspondence and circulate to appropriate Board member(s) for relevant review and action
- Complete the annual Charity Regulator Compliance Record form and submit same to the C.R. with annual report within filing deadline
- Liaise with the external accountant to coordinate and agree the data for filing of our annual accounts with the CRO within filing deadline
- Ensure the Peata business processes are transparent and fit for purpose
- Represent Peata as appropriate at media or public events
Qualifications / Experience:
Essential:
· Excellent leadership skills
· Excellent understanding of charity, corporate and business regulations
· Computer literate (Microsoft suite, zoom)
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· High levels of initiative
· Able to prioritise and deliver agreed objectives
