Sage Advocacy is the National Advocacy Service for Older People. It works to ensure that people have easy access to independent support and advocacy services in all settings: homes, day centres, respite facilities, congregated care settings / nursing homes, hospitals, hostels, hospices and in the process of transition between them. It is currently expanding it’s services with the support of the Dept of Education to meet the support and advocacy needs of survivors of institutional abuse. Since it was established in 2014, with the support of the HSE and The Atlantic Philanthropies, it has built a strong reputation for independence of thought and action and is a ‘go to’ service in relation to issues of capacity and decision making.
Due to growing demands on our services, Sage Advocacy is now recruiting for the following post;
Regional Advocate Greater Dublin (complex advocacy casework & systemic issues re care transitions) x1
Applicants should have a legal, nursing, social work or other professional qualification in health or social care, have a minimum of two years post qualification experience, considerable understanding of the Guiding Principles and key issues regarding the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) legislation, have highly effective verbal and written communications skills and have experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and managing challenging situations.
The appointments are for an initial contract period of 3 years and thereafter is subject to the continued availability of funding. There will be 3 reviews during a 6 month probationary period followed by support & mentoring. The salary scale is €45,000 - €55,000. Progression will be based on experience and performance. There are 25 days annual leave and a 5% contribution to a PRSA scheme following satisfactory completion of probation.
