Role Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Officer to manage the day-to-day financial operations of the Academy. This position plays a key role in supporting accurate financial record-keeping, timely payroll processing, and monthly reporting to the Executive Director and Board of Directors. The role also includes oversight of fee income tracking and cashflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and manage monthly payroll and expense reporting using BrightPay software.
- Prepare monthly management accounts for review by the Executive Director and Board, using BrightBooks.
- Maintain and update monthly cashflow projections and annual budgets.
- Perform monthly reconciliations including debtors, creditors, and bank accounts.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and tracking of fee income.
- Prepare and enter journals, accruals, and prepayments.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register.
- Support the submission of the Annual Return to the Charities Regulator.
- Assist with HR-related finance tasks, including completion of social welfare forms for employees.
- Liaise with external auditors for year-end accounts preparation.
- Provide general finance administration and perform other duties as requested by the Executive Director.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably within a not-for-profit or arts organization.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., BrightBooks, QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of Irish payroll procedures and statutory deductions.
- Experience managing reconciliations and preparing management accounts.
- Knowledge of not-for-profit financial reporting requirements is an advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Terms and Compensation
- This is a part-time position with flexible hours (approx. 8 hours per week).
- Compensation is commensurate with experience and within not-for-profit pay scales.
- Hybrid working is supported.
