Location: Hybrid - flexible but with requirement to travel to the National Headquarters and Training Centre (Model Farm Road, Cork), external meetings and events on a regular basis.

Job Title: Regional Development Officer

The Role

The Regional Development Officer will work as part of a team but will also take ownership of their work independently, showcasing an organised mindset. As you will be meeting the people you're supporting, in their communities, clear and effective communication skills, especially in client and stakeholder-facing situations, are crucial. Sharing enthusiasm for working to improve the independence and mobility of service users (clients), and caring for their dogs, is what makes the team at Irish Guide Dogs so focused on putting their clients front and centre in everything they do.

Experience in business development or project management would be highly valued in this role. The post holder should approach each project with an understanding of its value and the impact it will have on the organisation. Managing various moving pieces, with an emphasis on logistics and events management, will be a significant part of the responsibilities.

A reliable, repeatable approach to fundraising will enablethe success of organisational goals; by hosting meetings with the local branches to recruit volunteers and being on hand to go out to help them get started, you will be involved in everything from local quizzes and bucket collections to flagship events such as The Mizen to Mallen fundraising cycle and Guide Dog Day.

Key Responsibilities

Drive the development of branches and the overall region.
Maintain and build relationships with Branches through various means and be responsive to their requirements.
Assume responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and feedback for fundraising related projects in the region.
Effectively plan and run fundraising events/campaigns, projects and activities using established team processes as required, to maintain core support to volunteers throughout the region.
Manage Volunteer recruitment, training and development for branches.
Research, develop and capture a pipeline of fundraising opportunities to support branches.

Experience, Education and Skills

Ability to deliver targets and goals with a flair for business development and a natural ability to develop and achieve results.
Must have ability to operate independently with innovative spirit and the ability to forge strong, lasting relationships with the volunteering communities.
Experience and understanding of donor (customer) relationship management programmes and database marketing and development, ideally in a not for profit environment.
Demonstrable experience in planning, organising and reporting on project work and ongoing work programmes.
Experience and contacts within the corporate community.

Special Conditions

Full clean driving licence essential.
Must be eligible to work in Ireland.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required on an ad hoc basis and acceptance of the need to travel nationwide to meet with key fundraisers and other key stakeholders as part of the role, also on an ad hoc basis.
