WALK, a Leinster-based service provider for people with disabilities, has been providing community-based supports for over 50 years. Through its 16 models of support the organisation specialises in tailoring the types and supports it provides to suit the individual. Our focuses on engagement is in community settings; broadly in the areas of employment, training and community living. The organisation empowers people with disabilities to live self-determined lives in an equal and inclusive society. This means that people are facilitated to access any community facility that will support their life-time ambitions. At WALK we believe that every person who wants to work, have a job or a career, can do so. We know it is the person’s drive and ambitions that enables them to reach their goals, our role is as a facilitator in their journey. The people WALK supports enables us to work towards our vision, that is, of being an inclusive society where communities value and treat all people as equal citizens.
